Tecno Camon CM/Camon I Vs Xiaomi Redmi 5: Design and Built Quality
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Tecno Camon CM/Camon I share a similar design language, featuring a brushed aluminum body and a 5.7-inch HD+ display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The front hardware arrangement is also identical, with a front-facing camera, LED flash, speaker grill, and ambient light sensors situated above the display. However, the Tecno Camon I/Camon CM boasts a more impressive 13-megapixel front camera, compared to the Redmi 5’s 5-megapixel sensor. While both phones have their power buttons and volume rockers on the right side, the Redmi 5 adds a secondary mic and an IR blaster alongside the 3.5mm audio jack at the top, whereas the Camon CM/Camon I only has a 3.5mm audio jack.
On the left side, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 features a hybrid SIM slot that can accommodate either two nano-SIM cards or one nano-SIM and a 128GB SD card. In contrast, the Tecno Camon CM/Camon I has a 3-in-1 card slot that can hold two nano-SIM cards and a 128GB SD card. Both phones have similar components at the bottom, including a primary mic, USB 2.0 port, and loudspeaker opening. On the rear, the Tecno Camon CM/Camon I has a 13-megapixel main camera and quad-LED flash in the top left corner, while the Xiaomi Redmi 5 has a more centered 12-megapixel sensor and single LED flash. However, both phones have a rear fingerprint scanner positioned in the center. While both phones have impressive build quality for mid-range devices, I find the design and build quality of the Tecno Camon CM/Camon I to be slightly more appealing. This isn’t to say the Redmi 5 has poor build quality, but the lightweight build of the Camon CM/Camon I, weighing just 134 grams, is undeniably attractive.
